With her mom just getting out of prison, her stepdad passing in 2022, and her biological dad MC’ing for a club in Nevada, Sofia has a lot of lyrical ideas to pull from. She also simply loves to write whatever comes to mind, and her words know just how to flow out. Sofia’s parents have struggled with addiction, and her kindhearted grandparents took her in at age 11 and raised her in Fort Jones, California. With her grandparents' help, Sofia developed a respectful charm that people gravitate to and enjoy being around. Singing at a young age, Sofia recalls reciting “More Than I can say” by Rosie Ledet at age 2 and telling herself she wanted to sing just like Rosie. Allen Emerick, Sofia’s Grandfather, said, “I remember a time when she was 14 and learning guitar (on her own mind you), she ran downstairs and asked me how to play a B7 chord, and then would run back up to her room. Before you knew it, she was writing songs.” Since 2022, Sofia has been writing and performing her music with a band at local venues, and more recently at the county fair and local Summer Concert series.
